Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the charity gala premiere for the Singaporean movie “Love Cuts” at Vivo City. Instead of the usual “red carpet” affair, the event decided to roll out a “pink carpet” (although I still think everything looked pretty much red). With my “Number One fan” by my side…
…it was time to hit the stage and answer some questions regarding my role in the film and breast cancer, which is the primary topic of the movie.
Once I finished reminding everyone that early detection is critical to the successful and effective treatment of breast cancer (or any type of cancer for that matter), I got to pin my congratulatory wish to the Breast Cancer Foundation of Singapore…
With all the formalities out of the way, it was then time to chill out with the cast and crew before the movie begins…
If you do get the chance to catch the flick, let me know what you think!
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the new boutique store launch of Italian menswear luxury label Canali at the Paragon Shopping Center in Singapore. Quite frankly, it’s been a while since I last wore a nice suit so thank you Canali for slipping some fine Italian craftsmanship on me. Yesterday was a jam-packed day of running around endlessly on top of keeping the kids entertained at the pool so you know I was looking for some “Big People Time.” When I arrived, I had a good laugh with the emcee for the evening, Junita Simon, who was also happy to have a short break from the little one…
Before the evening’s festivities kicked off, I did a quick interview with E! News Asia…
Funny…every time I’ve done an interview with E! News Asia, I haven’t seen the actual hosts of the show. Guess it’s difficult to be at so many places at once to get the latest entertainment news.
Once that was done, it was time to meet the Canali family who flew in just for the event…
Elisabetta Canali noticed that I hadn’t cut off the label tag on my sleeve so I had to get that resolved before the ribbon cutting ceremony in a few days. I told them I purposely kept it on to give them a little more “coverage”…
…Truth is I was in too much of a rush to get ready after dumping off the kids at home after swimming. Luckily, I don’t have to spend “too much” time putting on makeup or anything, which is one of the few perks of being a guy.
And once I am formally “delabeled,” it’s time to cut the ribbon and officially open the new store…
After that, I take my seat next to actor Pierre Png for the fashion show and catch up on the “good old” days at Channel 8 and doing Chinese drama ;-P
And once the event’s program has come to a close, I figure I can squeeze in one more interview because TARA4 Racers Revealed officially airs tonight on AXN across the region so check out the teams…if you haven’t already done so at the AXN website!
And just like that…the ten new teams for the upcoming fourth season of The Amazing Race Asia were announced last night in a press conference conducted at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. I was on hand to lend a hand in the festivities, and it was fun to see how excited all the teams were, especially now that they could finally “come out” and tell the world that they’ll be racing soon!
For anyone who has tried to apply to be on the race, they already now how difficult it is to be selected. So whether these teams end up winning or losing, they should all congratulate themselves for even being selected thru the grueling TARA admissions process.
Last night’s event was short and sweet, and it was all about announcing these ten teams to press and media from around the region. I had a great time catching up with all of the racers on stage…
Now normally, I’d give you all the fun facts related to these teams. But since AXN will be airing a special episode of Racers Revealed on September 2nd, I figured I’d let them do the honors. Of course, if you can’t wait another week for the show to air on television, then be among the very first anywhere to learn more about the teams and the race starting tomorrow on the AXN website where you can see the entire episode!
I hoped you enjoyed watching the second episode of The Amazing Race China Rush. While this show is now up and “racing,” I’ve been spending a bit more time doing what I can to get the good word out about that other “Amazing Race from Asia.” Along with the photoshoot for New Tide and New Icon last week, I also had a great day with Lennard and his magazine M2. After spending a good part of the day in a studio, it was nice to go outside and pop off an outdoor shoot with a Ducati…
As much as I wanted to take this sweet ride for a spin, it’s probably better that we stayed stationary cuz the streets of Kuala Lumpur were jam packed around 4 PM. And since I couldn’t and wouldn’t be going anywhere on two wheels, we quickly moved inside for some more pics after that shot was done…
…and before I knew it, I was all changed out and sitting down for an interview. Quick and painless…just da way I like it! If all goes well with the shoot (and M2 is happy with the pics), you should be able to locate my mug on their upcoming October issue.
With the media and marketing machines beginning to rev up, it’s time this week to soon reveal the newest batch of contestant in the upcoming fourth season of TARA.
The day has finally arrived. After spending countless days in preparation, production, and post-production, The Amazing Race China Rush will make its premiere telecast later this event at 8 PM on Channel ICS (International Channel Shanghai). Even better, CCTV International (English channel) will be airing the show starting next Saturday night at 1115 PM worldwide so you can all still catch it if you have CCTV.
Since I will flag off the teams only a few hours later this evening, I’d like to share some of the production still we took during the first day of filming. I remember the first day of the race was surprisingly frigidly cold, but everyone was a good sport about getting in position for my opening speech…
Of course, we cannot forget to line up the bags after I say “Go!” to the racers…
Our crane shots are a tricky beast. But once you’re able to master it, the reward will be some nice “sweeping” shots…
It’s now time to see what the director sees…
All the teams are jumping out of their pants and ready to race so it’s now time to crouch down and assume the position…
And once I flag off all the teams, it’s time for me to start doing my diddy to explain what the the teams are getting themselves into!
Hope you enjoy the show! Once I find out where we can watch it online, then I will let you know too!
First, I need to apologize for not posting up any new blogs for a period of time. Surprisingly, I spent the better part of my time in airports and getting over jet lag so it’s great to be able to just sit down and hammer out a brand new blog for you all.
Today, I spent the good portion of my morning in an audio suite so I could do a good amount of voiceover work for any upcoming show in China that is destined to send ripples into the entertainment industry, The Amazing Race China Rush. I had the pleasure of sneaking a peak at some of the footage for the first episode, and I think that this race has all the workings to turn some heads. Of course, we will all find out for ourselves when it telecasts on Channel ICS (International Channel Shanghai) on August 8, 2010.
In the meantime, I actually had fun getting back in front of the camera to do a photoshoot for the magazine Singapore Women’s Weekly. Yeah, you are probably wondering why is a dude shooting for a “women’s magazine?” Well, it just so happened that the publication has a section entitled “Hunk of the Month.” And since they probably didn’t get who they really wanted, then WU else but moi!
No worries…I’ve seen Zoolander more than a few times so I take my instructions like any decent, hardworking model (for a day!)…
…and after explaining to me the finer points of how to flash and capitalize on the three looks I’ve worked on for years (Blue Steel, Magnum, and Ferrari), I was ready for action!
Sure enough…the shoot was quick and painless. I am assuming we all had a great time, especially since we were able to wrap it all up so quickly…
…or maybe the editors were more than ready to get rid of me! But then again, maybe I have created this impression that I can take these lying down…
Now, on a more serious note, I must confess that I have had a few beers so I may come across as a little more than just excited to be blogging again. Hopefully, this exercise won’t deter you from visiting this website again.
And trust me…if you are not scared or annoyed, then you’ll be in for a treat as I can soon loosen up the reins on some ridiculously “amazing” images of what I’ve been doing and where I’ve been over the past year.
Til then, have a great night and now it’s time for me to check out my kick ass new gear from Samsung Electronics. You guys totally rock!
As much as I would like to stop and enjoy the scenery, one of the key components of working on the race is getting from one location to the next. On top of that, I need to make sure I am at the Pit Stop before any of the teams arrive. Sometimes, we’ll be at locations that are not in close proximity, and then it’s time to start getting a little stressed about how close the teams are to reaching the Pit Stop.
Recently, we had this really nice shot at a waterfall…
However, this location was quite a distance from the parking lot so it literally became a race to get to the Pit Stop before the teams. Luckily, I got my Nike Air Max kicks on so you know I was able to reach the final destination before any of the teams showed up!
Through all conditions, the race must go on. Of course, we still prefer to race when the weather is more compliant. However, all the teams and crew had to really sludge it out on one of these days when the rain would not relent. Luckily, the wet weather did abate for a bit so we could take care of business…
Although I don’t mind doing my diddy in the rain, our poor cranes and cameras don’t operate so well under extreme moisture so we’re relegated to doing what we can under cover.
And once the weather has cleared the following day, it’s time to “pick up” some of the shots we missed in a tank top!
Although we’ve been moving all around China at a fast pace and seeing all that it has to offer, I was really excited to finally see a real panda. Sure, I had a “panda” at one of my earlier Pit Stops, but it was great to see one of these lovable animals at play. When our host team arrived, it was still early morning so most of them were sleeping. However, we did manage to find one of them that was already up for breakfast…
After she finished her daily dose of bamboo shots, “Amanda the Panda” quickly gave a shout out to us…
Afterward, we had to quickly leave Amanda so we zip over to another pit stop in a mountainous region of China. And where was it? I would like to tell you, but I should probably zip it up so I don’t spoil the actual location for you all!
Of course, not everyone is excited about waiting around for the teams to arrive. Here’s our A.D. (Assistant Director) and sound technician “standing in” as we frame up our shots for the teams on the way…
And once all the teams checked in, it was time for us to rush off to the next destination so we can prepare final tests for the upcoming leg of The Amazing Race China Rush!
This is the first time China has ever produced a U.S.-based production with the actual format so I’m really excited to see how it all goes once it’s aired on August. Until then, I’ll just keep on racing through these amazing locations!
