Monday Night Football with Barry Sanders

Last night, I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing one of the greatest players to every play the game of American football, Barry Sanders.  He was invited to China with the NFL, and we were all excited to have him join us for a special Monday Night Football at the Kerry Hotel…

Of course, the game had to be Barry’s former team, the Detroit Lions, versus the Indianapolis Colts.  Unfortunately, the Lions didn’t win it in the end, but I know everyone was more than excited to get to see and meet Barry as he signed autographs for all of his adoring fans…

I had a fantastic time on stage interviewing him and learning more about his greatest moments on the field and what he’s up to these days now that he’s been retired for twelve years…

After the game was over and I was ready to make a move, it was time to bust one last pose with Barry’s signature move that NFL has named him “the most elusive running of all time.”

Thanks again for a fantastic evening, Barry and Kerry Hotel!продвижение сайта за результат

Wu can cook too

Posted on 3 December 2012 – 10:15am

S. Indra Sathiabalan

MOST of us know him as the rugged and good-looking host of The Amazing Race Asia but Allan Wu has made a career for himself as a model and actor, in English serials such as Love Mattersand My In-Laws, as well as Chinese serial drama productions that include Bukit HoSwee, Beautiful Connection, The Unbeatables III and True Heroes. He has also starred in feature films I Do I Doand Night Corridor.

In addition to that, Wu is also a well-known presenter, having hosted the 2011 Miss Universe China beauty pageant. He is currently busy working on several projects but fans will get to see him in action showing off a completely different set of skills on Hot Guys Who Cook Season 2(HGWC2).

Here, Wu will showcase his cooking skills and perhaps erase some of their memories of the first season of the series in which, most of the hunks had questionable cooking skills. In an email interview, Wu explained what he will be doing on the cooking show.

Before taking part in Hot Guys Who Cook, could you, in fact, cook?
“Wu can cook … but he just doesn’t need to do it often because his wife is an even more ‘amazing’ cook and loves to cook for everyone.”

If you can cook, what is your signature dish?
“I prefer to make wholesome simple meals like pastas with a meat sauce in addition to roast chicken, of course.”

What will you be cooking for the show?
“Herb Crusted Roast Chicken on a bed of sweet mashed potatoes and salad with homemade dressing on the side.”

What is comfort food to you?
“Anything warm, thick, tasty, and chewy. Whoops…did that come out wrong? Either way, it tastes good going in!”

You have travelled all over the world, so do you like trying out all the different types of food?
“Absolutely. One of the best perks in my job is having the opportunity to experience culinary dishes from around the world during my travels.”

What is your favourite cuisine?
“I have always been a big fan of Mexican cuisine because it’s clean, simple, spicy, and simply delicious.”

As a model, actor as well as TV presenter, are you careful about what you eat?
“Yes, I do pay attention to what I eat. However, I would say I pay more attention to how much I eat as opposed to what I eat because, in the end it’s those large quantities of food that really can pack on the extra unneeded (nor desired) kilos.”

Why should we watch HGWC2
“It’s a simply knockout of a recipe with entertaining good-looking guys showing off their cooking prowess in a different setting than the usual environment. I really enjoyed my time working on the show because it allowed me to show a different and more comedic side of me that many fans and viewers might be less familiar with. Who knows? You just might pick up a fantastic new dish just in time to show off to family and friends for the upcoming holiday season!”

Hot Guys Who Cook 2 premieres tonight at 7pm over on Diva Universal (Astro Channel 702).

Hot and dishy

Hot Guys Who Cook returns with a second season on Diva Universal tonight.

It will feature Shanghai-based actor and host Allan Wu, Filipino model Paolo Gonzalez and local actor and model Zain Saidin.

Also whipping up their signature dishes are Singapore-based television host Oli Pettigrew, TV hosts Armando Reed and Adam Carruthers, Singaporean actor Paul Foster, host and model George Young and TV host and actor Henry Golding.

You’ve seen and heard him flagging down racers in the hit TV series, The Amazing Race Asia and The Amazing Race China Rush, but 40-year-old Wu insists that he can also whip up dishes.

“Yes, I can cook. But I rarely do it these days as my wife does it. When I was in college, I prepared my own meals,” says the father of two. His best dish? “Probably some pasta.”

American-born Wu also talked enthusiastically about his favourite food and what it means to him. “Food means celebration to me. When it comes to food, we often think of healthy options. I truly believe you are what you eat,” he says.
“It’s really important to have a well-balanced diet that not only tastes good but is also nutritious,” says Wu, adding that his ideal dish is a well-marinated roast chicken with lots of garlic and onion and seasoned with salt and pepper. “I’d also love chilled mashed potato to go with the chicken.”

In September last year, Wu and his family (his Singaporean actress wife, Wong Li-lin, and their two kids), moved to Shanghai to pursue his career. In an earlier interview Wu called the move “an investment and risk”.

“We were wading into unknown territory — literally. But we love it here and it has paid off quite well. However, I still have a long way to go.”

Wu, who took on a fair number of acting jobs during his earlier days in Singapore, came to prominence playing Hao Lian Di in the drama series Bukit Ho Swee. The series focused on the island republic’s  prominent Chinese settlements (known for its cramped squatters and gang activities), before the infamous 1961 fire that gutted the entire settlement.

“It’s been a privilege to be able to do so many things in  different places. I’ve acted, modelled and hosted but acting has always been my passion. Right now I am working in the Chinese version of Gossip Girl, which will be shot in Shanghai,” he says.

Every week, three good-looking men will cook and share their personal stories behind their signature dish in Hot Guys Who Cook. They will also attempt to wow a mystery judge with their creation at the end of the show.

In Wu’s own words, the show is “entertaining and educational”. “I hope anyone watching the show will enjoy it,” he says.

The second season of Hot Guys Who Cook airs every Monday at 7pm on Diva Universal (Astro channel 702)
